Irene Castle Haynes Berry
1922-2005

Irene Castle Haynes Berry, age 82, died Wednesday, January 5, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 8, at 11:00 a.m. at Coles Chapel in Henry with Rev. Darrell Albea, eulogist. Burial was in Cayton Springs Cemetery.
She was born February 3, 1922, in Henry, to the late Walter L. Haynes and Oma C. Copeland Haynes. She was married to Weldon Ray Berry who died on April 25, 1978.
She is survived by daughter Julia Butler of Southfield, Mich.; a sister, Kathryn T. Phelps of Henry; a brother, Sam Haynes, of Paris; two grandchildren; three great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Berry attended Central High School and was a member of Walton Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School and was pianist until her health began to fail.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Haynes Porter and Dorothy Haynes.

Wesley Lee Uselton
1925-0005

Wesley Lee Uselton, 79, died Thursday, December 30, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services for Mr. Uselton were held Saturday, January 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed in Tumbling Creek Cemetery. Bro. Verlon Blackwell and Bro. Dennis Cobb officiated the services.
Mr. Uselton was a retired street supervisor for the city of Martin and was a member of the Dresden Pentecostal Church. He was born May 10, 1925, in Brownsville to the late George William and Julia Cornelius Ray Uselton.
Mr. Uselton is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret Jones of Winchester; two brothers, George Uselton and John William Uselton, both of Ripley; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ricky Killebrew
1959-2004
PARIS:
Ricky Lee Killebrew, 45, died Sunday, December 26, at his home. Survivors include Jessie "Ga Ga" Killebrew, aunt, and cousins Jean (Joe) McKinnie and Kim (Eddie) Moss, all of McKenzie.
He is also survived by a daughter, Rachel Killebrew and his father, Hershel Killebrew, both of Paris, and two-half sisters, Kathy (Wayne) Jackson of Orlando, Florida and Rita Barnett of Nashville.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Faye Barnett Killebrew.

R.N. McMackin
1925 - 2005
HOLLOW ROCK:
Services for R.N. McMackin, 79, were at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 6, at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Joey Simmons officiating. Burial was in Pisgah Cemetery near Hollow Rock.
Mr. McMackin, a retired security guard for H.I.S. Co., died Monday, January 3, at his residence.
He was born November 24, 1925, in Carroll County to the late Carlos Issac McMackin and Sophie Turner McMackin.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Bennett McMackin; a sister, Dorothy Maultsby of Pulaski; a brother, Harold McMackin of Bruceton; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry McMackin.

Lottie F. Wray Barksdale
Bradenburg, Kentucky:
Lottie F. Wray Barksdale, 74, died Monday, January 3, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Mrs. Barksdale was a 1948 graduate of McKenzie High School and a former Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star in McKenzie.
She is survived by her husband, Ken Barksdale; five children: Scott Barksdale, Anniston, Alabama; Ronald Barksdale, Louisville, Kentucky; Kimberly Barksdale, Newark, Ohio; Jane Slinger, Bradenburg, Kentucky; Martin Barksdale, Irvington, Kentucky; a sister, Martha Ross of McKenzie; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 8, at Brandenburg United Methodist Church.
Expressions of sympathy may go to the building fund of the Brandenburg United Methodist Church.
Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Billy Jean Petty
1942-2005
PARIS:
Services for Billy Jean Petty, 62, were at 4 p.m. Monday, January 10, at LeDon Chapel-Ridgeway Funeral Home with the Revs. Jerry W. Massey and Ronnie Davidson officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Petty, a laborer at Tecumseh Products for 25 years, died Saturday, January 8, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born April 7, 1942, in McKenzie to the late Bennie Ownby and Lena Townes. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Sheila Routon, of Paris; four sisters: June Cooper of Highland, Indiana; Wilma Cruse of Hollow Rock; Iris Edwards of Huntingdon; and Beverly Garner of Millington; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Petty; two sisters, Maxine Ownby and Louise Hastings; and two brothers, Thomas "Tommy" Ownby, and Bennie Ray Ownby.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, One Vantage Way, Suite C-250, Nashville, TN 37228.

Don Allen Schroeder
1932-2005
HUNTINGDON:
Mr. Don Allen Schroeder, 72, died Thursday, January 6, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, January 9, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Liberty All Cemetery. Dr. Paul Millikin officiated the service.
Mr. Schroeder was born June 17, 1932, in Rover Grove, Illinois to the late Don Frank Schroeder and Marie (Kumm) Schroeder. He was a retired carpenter and electrician, and served in the Army Signal Corp. and the National Guard. He was preceded in death by a son, Frank Schroeder, who died in 1973, and Kari Lynn Arnhold, who died on November 2, 2004.
He is survived by his fiancée, Jeannine Allen.

William Amus Kendall
1921-2005
PARIS:
William Amus Kendall, 83, died Thursday, January 6, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris. The funeral will be Wednesday, January 12, at 11:00 a.m. at Progressive Baptist Church in Paris with Pastor Lawrence Ragland officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Paris. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Kendall was born June 13, 1921, in Buchanan to the late Bonnie Kendall and Johnie Diggs Kendall. He was preceded in death by his former spouse, Verdell Kendall, a son, Marvin Kendall, and grandsons, LaMichael Kendall and Maurice Kendall. Survivors include his wife, Priscilla Tharpe Kendall of Paris; four sons: Lonnie Kendall, Clarksville; Larry Kendall and Roger Kendall, both of Paris; and Melvin Kendall of Atlanta, Georgia; a daughter, Julia Tharpe, of Paris; three foster children: Lisa Taylor of Paris; Tammy Harvey of Newburn; and Clarence Crumble of Clinton, Kentucky; seven step-children: Shirley Tharpe, Ava Hudson, Debbie Tharpe, Tammy Tharpe, and Lori Van Dyke all of Huntsville, Alabama and Robert Tharpe and Karen Tharpe, both of Paris; and a brother-in-law, James Hill, of McKenzie; 31 grandchildren; several great- and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was an Army veteran of WWII, a bus driver for the Henry County School System for over 40 years, and owned and operated Kendall Sanitation in 1959. He was a member of Progressive Baptist Church where he sang in the male chorus.

George Metzler
1912-2005
FLORIDA:
George Metzler, 92, a former resident of McKenzie, died January 7 in Boynton Beach, Florida after an extended illness.
Mr. Metzler, a retired brick mason, was born in Manheim, Pennsylvania on December 12, 1912, and is survived by his wife, Vera, sons Walter and Lester, Sr., daughters Marion Walden, Audrey Hiatt, and Leigh Metzler, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
No local services are planned. Mr. Metzler was buried in the family plot in Geigertown, Pennsylvania.
Donations in his honor may be made to your local Alzheimer's or hospice charity.

Robert L. Finch
1938-2005
KNOXVILLE:
Mr. Robert L. Finch, 67, died Sunday, January 9 in Knoxville. He was retired from Y-12 where he worked as a computer security officer.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Jones Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Chase Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until time of services on Thursday.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Finch; one son, Thomas L. Finch of Knoxville; one daughter, Tracy Thompson or Corryton; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Finch was preceded in death by his parents, Will Lewis Finch and Gladys Mae Brown Finch.

Louella Strayhorn
NASHVILLE:
Louella Strayhorn of Nashville, formerly of McKenzie, died Tuesday, January 4 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville following an extended illness.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Milton P. Strayhorn; one son, Phillip M. Strayhorn of West Covina, California; one daughter, Donnetta Butler, Sr. of Nashville; sisters, Katie Olgetree of Cleveland, Ohio, Blanche Woods of St. Paul, Minnesota; grandsons, George E. Butler, Jr. of Sylacauga, Alabama, Stephen Sean Butler of Nashville; and two granddaughters, Camille Strayhorn and Kristen Strayhorn. Another local survivor includes a brother-in-law, Odell Pate of McKenzie.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 9, at Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church in Nashville at 4:00 p.m. Interment was Monday, January 10, at 11:00 a.m., Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, Nashville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Golena Puckett Scholarship Fund, c/o Reverend James Stewart, 103 Meadow Wood Drive, McKenzie 38201 or The Christ Fund at Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church, 1209 9th Avenue North, Nashville, 37208.

Charles Andrew Smothers
1915-2005

Charles Andrew Smothers, 90, died January 8 after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, January 11, at noon at Dilday Funeral Home East Visitation Room. Interment followed in the Carroll Memorial Gardens. Brother Fred Ward officiated the services.
He was born in Benton County in October 1915, to the late Sebe and Sally Smothers. He is survived by a son, Jerry Dale Smothers; two grandsons, and two great grandsons; a sister, Hazel Thomas, and a brother, Leo Smothers, both of Huntingdon. Charles was preceded in death by a brother J.L. and sister, Verlya Wilkes. Two children preceded him in death, Larry Randall Smothers and Charlene Smothers.

Bob "Del" Delcoure
1931-2005
LAVINIA:
Funeral services for Bob "Del" Delcoure, 74, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, at Milan Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. David LaNeave officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Delcoure, a retired employee of Lubrizol Corp., Deer Park, Texas, died Sunday, January 9, at his son's residence in Lavinia. He was a member of Immanual Lutheran Church in Brenham, Texas where he served as a church council member and an usher. He was also a mason, serving as a 50-year member of the Conroe Masonic Lodge #748 in Conroe, Texas and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Estella Delcoure of Lavinia; one son, Ray Goehring of Lavinia; one daughter, Barbara Hollis of Brenham, Texas; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Milan Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Immanual Lutheran Church Building Fund, Brenham, Texas.

Louise Dillahunty
1927-2005
MCKENZIE:
Services for Louise Bell Dillahunty, 77, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 13, at Brummitt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Henry County.
Mrs. Dillahunty, a retired S.S. Garment Company employee, died Monday, January 10, at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
She was born December 18, 1927 in Gibson County to the late James V. Taylor and Ollie B. Taylor Allen. She was a member of First Baptist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include a son, Payton (Becky) Dillahunty of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Diane (Dennis) Barton and Melinda Dillahunty, both of McKenzie; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Wendy) Barton, Chase Barton, Ashlee Dillahunty, Conner Dillahunty and Tyler Dillahunty; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Barton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben M. Dillahunty, and two sisters, Mildred Harris and Melinda Dillahunty.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 12, 3:30 until 9 p.m.
