James Herbert Florence
1939-2006
HOLLOW ROCK: James Herbert Florence, 66, died
Sunday, February 19, at his residence. Funeral services
will be conducted Wednesday, February 22, at 2:00 p.m.,
at the Stockdale-Malin chapel in Camden with Brother
Leonard Greer officiating. Interment will follow in
Benton Memory Garden. Visitation will take place Tuesday
at 5:00 p.m. at the Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home.
Mr. Florence was born September 1, 1939, in Camden, to
the late George M. and Edra Bell Herrin Florence. He was
retired from CSX Railroad, a U.S. Army veteran, member
of the Masonic Lodge and attended Prospect General
Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Oatsvall Florence;
three daughters: Vickie (Mike) Wood of Bowling Green,
Kentucky, Kimberly (Burt) Young of Buena Vista, and
Leslie Florence of Bruceton; two sisters: Madeline
Holland and Sue Phiter, both of Camden; three brothers:
Darrell Florence, Billy Florence, and Carlton Florence,
all of Camden; four grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.
Elizabeth Joyce Melton Baugus Dalton
1946-2006
HOLLADAY: Elizabeth Joyce Melton Baugus Dalton, 59,
died Sunday, February 19, at her residence. Funeral
services will be conducted Wednesday, February 22, at
11:00 a.m., at the Stockdale-Malin chapel in Camden with
Brother Rick Welty officiating. Interment will follow in
Holladay Cemetery. Visitation will take place beginning
Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Stockdale-Malin Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Dalton was born October 29, 1946, in Camden, the
late Wadie Franklin Melton and Lara Aline Pierpoint
Grathwell of Big Sandy, who survives. She worked 15.5
years with the United States Postal Service, was a
member of the Holladay Church of Christ, spent ten years
with the Benton County Rescue Squad and approx. ten
years with the Holladay-McIllwain Volunteer Department.
She helped start the fire department in Holladay and
McIllwain.
She is survived by her husband, Mitchell Lewis Dalton
Jr.; two sons: Jamie Roy Baugus and Jason Don Baugus,
both of Holladay; five sisters: Annie Mae Standridge,
Margaret Markham, and Evelyn June Snyder, all of Big
Sandy, Doris Ann Puckett of McKenzie, and Lisa Mitchell
Bell of Paris; two brothers: Larry Ray Melton of Big
Sandy and John Franklin Melton of Paris; three
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Raymond Edward Leitl
1961-2006
HUNTINGDON: Raymond Edward Leitl, 44, died Friday,
February 17, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Services will be conducted Wednesday, February 22, at
1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Chase Funeral Home with
Brother David Critchlow officiating. Interment will
follow in the Leach Full Gospel Cemtery.
Mr. Leitl was born December 30, 1961, in Libertyville,
Illinois. He was a supervisor at New Generations
Company.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Edward
Leitl, paternal grandmother, Teresa Leitl, and one
brother-in-law.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Kimberlee Leitl;
mother, Dolores Becker of Antioch, Illinois; one
brother, Jeffrey (Sheryl) Leitl of Round Lake Beach,
Illinois; four sister-in-laws and several nieces,
nephews and godchildren.
Betty Ann Penney
1937-2006
BRUCETON: Betty Ann Penney, 68, died Friday,
February 17, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, February 20, in
the chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Steve
Whitworth officiating. Interment followed in Carroll
Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Penney was born July 4, 1937, in Cumming, Georgia,
to the late Roy and Viola (Hulsey) Tallant. She was a
homemaker, a wonderful cook, loved to paint, and was a
member of the First United Methodist Church in Bruceton.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Tallant, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jerry
Penney; three daughters, Monica Shapiro of Jackson,
Melonie Batte and Michelle (Bryan) Batte, both of
Bruceton; six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and
two dear friends.
Wayne David Bryant
1927-2006
TREZEVANT: Wayne David Bryant, 78, died after a long
illness Friday, February 17, at his home. Funeral
services were conducted Monday, February 20, at
Trezevant Church of Christ with Bro. John Forgy
officiating. Burial followed in Trezevant Cemetery under
the direction of Brummitt Funeral Home.
Mr. Bryant was born May 2, 1927, in Milan, to William
Clarence and Elizabeth Frost Bryant, both deceased. He
was a retired teacher, coach, and postal employee and a
faithful member of the Church of Christ in Trezevant,
serving as an elder, deacon, and church treasurer for 45
years. He served on the Trezevant School Board and
Trezevant City Board. He was a World War II Navy veteran
and member of the VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Hamilton
Bryant; a daughter, Frances (Ronnie) Belew of
Brownsville; a son, Wayne David (Pam) Bryant, Jr. of
Trezevant; two grandsons, Nick (Mandy) Bryant, and
Dustin Bryant, all of Trezevant; and a brother, Jimmy
Bryant of McKenzie.
Rochelle Elaine Melton
1950-2006
HUNTINGDON: Rochelle Elaine Melton, 55, died
Thursday, February 16, at Milan General Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, February 19, in
the chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Hayes
officiating.
Mrs. Melton was born December 27, 1950, the only child
of Floyd J.W. Milam and Evelyn Milam Cozart. She was a
homemaker and faithful servant of the Jehovah's Witness
congregation in McKenzie.
She was preceded in death by Roland Beasley.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Thomas L.
Melton; four children: Michelle M. Jones of Jackson,
Alicia M. Dunlap of Nashville, Thomas J.W. Melton of
Cedar Grove, and Spencer Melton of Huntingdon; two
step-children: Cynthia McNeil and John Grimes of
Lexington, Kentucky; two sisters: Marcella Harris of
Huntingdon and Wanda Y. Ford of Nashville; three
brothers: Reggie (Jeruna) Cozart of McLemoresville,
Kermit M. Cozart of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Jerry
Greer, and a host of other family and friends.
Lorene S. Oatsvall
1912-2006
HUNTINGDON: Lorene S. Oatsvall, 94, of Huntingdon,
died Thursday, February 16, at the Huntingdon Health &
Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted
Sunday, February 19, in the chapel of Dilday Funeral
Home with Brother Larry DePriest officiating. Interment
followed in the Palmer Shelter Cemetery. Mrs. Oatsvall
was born January 5, 1912, in Carroll County, to the late
Murry and Fronie Weaver Smith. She was a retired nurse
for Baptist Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garvin
Oatsvall; two sons: Robert Carl Oatsvall and Gaylon
Richard Oatsvall; three brothers: Murry Smith Jr., Billy
Ray Smith, and Robert Smith; and three sisters: Pauline
Bennett, Mae Pendergrass Roark and Opal Smothers.
She is survived by three daughters: Jessie Rich (Dennis)
Smothers of Camden, Dotty (James) Gates of Huntingdon,
and Sue (Gary) Enders of Olive Branch, Mississippi; a
son, Brent (Lenita) Oatsvall of Huntingdon; a
daughter-in-law, Mary Oatsvall of Huntingdon; one
sister, Ludell Walker of Huntingdon; nine grandchildren;
and twelve great-grandchildren.
Vance Rushing
1929-2006
McKENZIE: Brother Vance Rushing died Wednesday,
February 15, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral
services will be held Saturday, February 18, at 2:00
p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Bros. Dennis Beal and
Bob Copland officiating. Interment will follow at Mt.
Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at
Friday, February 17, from 2:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and
Saturday, at Bethel Church, from 10 a.m. until service
time.
Mr. Rushing was born April 29, 1929, to the late Lee Roy
and Juanita Mays Rushing. He was a member of Bethel
Baptist Church in McKenzie.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Rushing;
two sons, John Thomas (Mary) Rushing of Nashville and
David Wayne (Terri) Rushing of McKenzie; four
grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Eric Lee Bush

MCLEMORESVILLE: Eric Lee Bush, 37 of McLemoresville,
died Wednesday, February 15 at his home. Funeral
services were conducted Friday, February 17, at Union
Academy Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Darrell
Harris officiating. Interment followed in the church
cemetery. Chase Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
Mr. Bush was born August 31, 1968, in Milan. He was a
property appraiser, a member of Phi Sigma Kappa
fraternity and a member of the Union Academy Missionary
Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents,
Haywood and Ester Bush, his maternal grandfather, Earl
Sorrell, and a special great aunt, Frances Smothers.
He is survived by his parents, Ronald and Linda
(Sorrell) Bush of Trezevant; his maternal grandmother,
Jean Sorrell of Milan; one sister, Brandi Bush of
Trezevant; one uncle; and two nieces.
Elsie Sue Stephens
1942-2006
HUNTINGDON: Elsie Sue Stephens, 64, died Wednesday,
February 15, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 18,
in the chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Frank
Criswell officiating. Interment followed in Carroll
Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Stevens was born January 3, 1942, in Lake City,
Arkansas, to the late Walter A. and Elsie Jewell (Shugg)
Coots. She was retired from escorting oversize vehicles
on the highways and was a member of the Assembly of God
Church in McKenzie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dwayne
Stevens, and one brother, Walter Wayne Coots.
She is survived by one daughter, Tamara Woodby of
Whitehouse; one son, Phillip Stevens of Bath Springs;
four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Patricia Ann Adams
1946-2006
McKENZIE: Patricia Ann Adams, 59, died Wednesday,
February 15, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Graveside
services were held Friday, February 17, at Caledonia
Cemetery with Brother Guy Stallcup officiating.
Mrs. Adams was born July 6, 1946, to the late Clyde
Newton and Mary Lee (Nanney) Blaylock. She was a
homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, John Adams; one son,
John Keith Adams of Sumrall, Mississippi; one daughter,
Marla Crenshaw of McKenzie; two sisters, Mary Francis
Bishop of Jackson and Debra Bynum of Gleason; one
brother, Larry Blaylock of McKenzie; and six
grandchildren.
Patsy Darlene Sanders
1946-2006
GLEASON: Patsy Darlene Sanders, 59, died Wednesday,
February 15. Burial was in Summerville Baptist Cemetery
in Summerville, Louisiana.
Mrs. Sanders was born June 15, 1946, in Jena, Louisiana,
to the late Henry Robert and Hettie Mae (Vickers) Quaid.
She was a retired postmaster.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Sanders; one son,
Bradley Stewart of Jena, Louisiana; one daughter,
Bredgitt Walker of Leander, Texas; one step-daughter,
Lisa Vaughn of Gleason; two brothers, Henry Quaid of
Georgetown, Louisiana and James Quaid of Nokesville,
Virginia; and four grandchildren
Judy E. Barlowe
1952-2006
TREZEVANT: Judy E. Barlowe, 54, died Wednesday,
February 15, at McKenzie Medical Center. Services were
conducted Saturday, February 18, at Trezevant Church of
Christ with Bros. Robert Barger and John Forgy
officiating. Burial followed in Trezevant Cemetery.

Mrs. Barlowe was born January 28, 1952, in Milan, to
A.D. Eubanks and Dessie Hodum Eubanks, both deceased.
She was a substitute mail carrier and a member of Temple
Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth N. Barlowe; two
sons, Brent Barlowe and Beau Barlowe, both of Trezevant;
one brother, Jerry Eubanks of Fayetteville; and two
sisters: Diane Stewart Kempfer of Atwood and Debbie
Powers of Bradford.
Richard E. "Dick" Spaulding
1914-2006
PARIS: Richard E. "Dick" Spaulding, 91, died
Tuesday, February 14, at Henry County Medical Center.
Graveside services were held Thursday, February 16, at
Oak Hill Cemetery. Gary Hines and Paul Veazey officiated
the service.
Mr. Spaulding was born September 22, 1914, in Paris, to
the late Arthur and Sally Hunt Spaulding. He was a
retired TVA electrician, a World War II Army veteran and
a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He was a 32nd
degree Scottish Rite Mason and member of Masonic Lodge
108. He received the Colonel Aide de Camp certificate
under Gov. Ned McWherter.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Snyder and
Ruby Steele, and three brothers: Jim, Raymond, and Sam
Spaulding.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Pauline Carter
Spaulding; one daughter, Dixie (Gary) Hines of Paris;
one bother, Ray (Carnell) Spaulding of Paris; and
several nieces and nephews.

James Bradley Lydon
1937-2006
ATWOOD: James Bradley Lydon, 68, died Monday,
February 13, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, February
15, at the Pisgah Cemetery in Atwood.
Mr. Lydon was born March 24, 1937 in Seattle,
Washington, to the late Bernard and Dorothy (Bradley)
Lydon. He was a truck driver for the A-One Cartage
Company and a veteran of the Army.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Shirley.
He is survived by five sisters: Dolores Mitchell,
Margaret Fender, Kathleen Lydon, Judith Barlea, Virginia
Sargent; and three brothers, Gerald Lydon, John Lydon,
and Samual Lydon.
Thelma Berry
1925-2006
MCKENZIE: Thelma DePriest Berry, 80, died Saturday,
February 11, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Services were conducted Tuesday, February 14, in
Ridgeway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenny Carr
officiating. Interment follwed in Hopewell Cemetery in
Lavinia.
Mrs. Berry was born May 15, 1925, in Lavinia, to the
late Harry W. and Robbie Lee Seaver Perkins. She was a
licensed practical nurse at Rhea Clinic, formerly of
Paris, and a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Paris.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William
A. "Bill" DePriest, whom she married in 1944, and second
husband, Roger Berry; and three children: Keith DePriest,
age 5, Randy DePriest, age 3, and Ann Olivia DePriest,
in infancy.
She leaves one stepson, Dale Berry of Birmingham,
Alabama; three sisters: Sara Lannom of Bradford, Edna
Goodman of Milan, and Betty Allen of Memphis; two
brothers: Ray and John Perkins, both of Memphis; and
several nieces and nephews.
Cloudine O. Williams
1934-2006
CEDAR GROVE: Cloudine O. Williams, 72, died Friday,
February 10, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, February 16,
at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev.
David McCraney officiating. Interment followed in the
church cemetery.
Mrs. Williams was born January 10, 1934, in Carroll
County, to the late Columbus Owens and Edna Mae Weathers
Owens. She worked at H.I.S.-Bruceton for 30 years and
was a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church,
serving as a member of the Usher Board and Missionary
Society.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Henry
Williams; two daughters: Linda (James) Pearson and
Evergene Cozart, and one son, Donnie Cozart, all of
Cedar Grove; three brothers: Charles (Robie) Owens and
Bobby Jean Owens, both of Lexington, and Ben (Vella Mae)
Owens of Smyrna; eight grandchildren, seven
great-grandchildren; three aunts; two uncles; 11
step-children; 27 step-grandchildren; five
step-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; two
brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, and
other relatives and friends.
Ora Mae Hubbard Pritchett

MCKENZIE: Ora Mae Hubbard Prichett, 97, died
Thursday, February 9, at McKenzie Health Care. Funeral
services were conducted Saturday, February 11, at
Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home in Big Sandy with Brother
Leonard Greer officiating. Internet followed in McDavid
Grove Cemetery in Springville.
Mrs. Pritchett was born June 17, 1908, to the late Henry
and Mattie French Doty.
She was a retired owner and operator of Hubbard's
Grocery between Paris and Big Sandy. She was a Baptist
and native of Springville.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Doty.
She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn McCarver of Big
Sandy; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. |
