Huntingdon Man Dies in Fiery Crash

A 39-year-old Huntingdon man died after he was involved in a one-vehicle crash on State Highway 77, between Huntingdon and Paris, at 10:48 a.m. Wednesday, in which the vehicle caught fire and burned.

Roy W. Bain, 39, was traveling alone and eastbound in a 2007 Chevrolet when he lost control of the vehicle, struck a fence and several trees, according to a report filed by Trooper Michael Sullivan. On impact, the vehicle burst into flames and Bain’s body had to be extricated from the wreckage. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:32 a.m. by Carroll County Coroner Steve Cantrell. He sustained multiple injuries, the coroner stated.

The accident occurred approximately 12 miles east of Huntingdon, according to Trooper Sullivan.

Bain was not wearing a safety belt. However, in the officer’s opinion, a seat belt would not have made a difference.
