Lonnie Campbell died
Monday after colliding with a
tractor-trailer truck in Huntingdon.
A 68-year-old Milan man was killed late
Monday afternoon when his vehicle was struck
head-on by a tractor-trailer truck on

in Huntingdon. The accident occurred at 5:12

investigating officer, Sgt. Richard Bryant
of Huntingdon Police Department.
Lonnie Campbell, 69 of Herbert Neal Road,
was pronounced dead at the scene by Carroll
County Coroner Steve Cantrell at 5:49 p.m.
Cantrell said the victim died upon impact
from massive head trauma and multiple
injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer
truck was not injured.
Campbell was traveling south on the two-lane
road in a 2006 Volkswagen and the 1999
International 18-wheeler, driven by Ronnie
Hendrix, 54 of Darden, Tenn. was traveling

The roadway was wet at the time of the
accident, according to Bryant, who noted
that eyewitness account and positions of
impact indicated the Volkswagen crossed the
center line and was struck head-on by the
tractor-trailer truck.
Campbells wife, Betty Lou Campbell, was
traveling in another vehicle just ahead of
her husband and reportedly witnessed the
accident in her rear view mirror, according
to Bryant.
Local Huntingdon Veterinarian, Dr. Jill
Edwards, was traveling behind the car and
reportedly ran off the roadway to avoid
contact when the accident occurred. She was
uninjured and her vehicle sustained no
damage.
