Ballot Set for November City Elections |
| |
Contested Races in McKenzie, Bruceton,
Trezevant
HUNTINGDON - Candidates have qualified to
seek municipal seats during the November 4
general elections. Contested races are in
McKenzie, Bruceton, and Trezevant.
MCKENZIE - In McKenzie, council members will
be elected from Ward One, Ward Four and Ward
Six for four-year terms, and Ward Two for a
two-year term. The mayor's next election is
November 2010.
Ward Six has three candidates qualified.
Jimmy Patterson, Debbie Broadbent, and Adam
Cooper are seeking the seat. Incumbent Darra
Adkins did not seek re-election.
In Ward One, Shaun T. Thompson is
uncontested for the seat now held by Wade
Allen, who is not seeking re-election.
In Ward Two, Jerry Arthur is seeking
election for the seat he now holds after his
appointment to fill the unexpired term of
the late Charles Ramey. Arthur also
previously held the elective seat.
In Ward Four, Jill Holland is running
unopposed for re-election.
HUNTINGDON - In Huntingdon, voters will
elect a mayor and four aldermen. Mayor Dale
Kelley is seeking re-election for a
four-year term. Brose Park will challenge
Kelley for the mayoral seat.
Seeking re-election for the four at-large
seats are: incumbents Gary Hatch, Clarence
Norman, Tim Tucker and Nina Smothers, who
was appointed to fill the unexpired term of
Jeanie Newman, who resigned when she moved
from Huntingdon.
ATWOOD - In Atwood, two aldermen will be
elected. Ricky Long and Jimmy Halford are
seeking those positions.
BRUCETON - Five persons qualified for three
aldermen positions in Bruceton. Incumbents
Ernest Thorne and Steve T. Pinkston are
seeking re-election. The other candidates
include:Renee Ford, Carmion J. Fuhrman and
Tonya Young.
HOLLOW ROCK - In Hollow Rock, three persons
qualified for three aldermen seats.
Incumbents Maria Crocker, Michael A. Smith,
and Rob Woods are seeking re-election of the
at-large seats.
TREZEVANT - In Trezevant, voters will elect
a mayor and five aldermen. For mayor, Tommy
Long, Lebert "Lee" Walker and Bobby Argo
qualified to seek the office of mayor.
Current Mayor David Bryant is not seeking
re-election.
Six persons qualified for five aldermen
positions in Trezevant. Incumbents Lloyd
Bateman, Bobby Blaylock, and George E.
Jennings qualified for re-election. Phyllis
Curtis, Eddie Granger, and Billy L. Walker
complete the roster of candidates. |
