Fronabarger is New West Carroll Football Head Coach

By Lindsey Arnold

Eric Williams (at right), Director of West Carroll schools, congratulates new War Eagle senior high football coach, Josh Fronabarger.

ATWOOD (January 25) - West Carroll High School held a conference Friday afternoon introducing Josh Fronabarger as the new head coach of the War Eagles' football team.

The announcement came after a rigorous search spanning the country, said Eric Williams, director of schools. A group of over thirty applicants, some from as far as California, was narrowed down to five.

Williams, spoke of the qualities that were essential for [former head football coach] Chris Rich's successor. Discipline on and off the field, accountability, a greater sense of pride and a renewal of trust in the coaching staff are all goals that West Carroll sought for their new head coach to instill in the players.

In the end, Coach Fronabarger was a natural choice, said Williams. He's certainly familiar with the team, having two years experience as the head coach of the War Eagles junior high football team and spending the last three years as defensive coordinator for the seniors.

The coach was prompt and to the point as he was meeting with the team directly following the conference. "I'm extremely excited and would like to thank the administration for this opportunity," said Coach Fronabarger. Focused on preparing for off-season training, he said, "I'm ready to take the ball and run with it."
