Early Voting Begins October 15 |
| |
Early voting begins Wednesday, October 15
and continues through October 30 in the
November 4 Presidential, State General
Election, and local city elections.
Carroll County is a bellwether county and
its majority vote has accurately reflected
the presidential outcome dating back to the
Kennedy-Nixon contest, in which Carroll
County incorrectly went for Nixon instead of
Kennedy.
In this year's Presidential Preference
Primary, Carroll County went for Hillary
Clinton with 1,982 votes compared to Barack
Obama's 709 in the Democratic Primary. On
the Republican side, Mike Huckabee received
767 votes compared to John McCain's 765.
Offices to be voted are President and Vice
President, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of
Representatives, State House of
Representatives and city elections in
McKenzie, Huntingdon, Bruceton, Hollow Rock,
Trezevant and Atwood.
The election office, located at 625 High
Street, Suite 113, is open for early voting
October 15-30 from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Monday through Friday and Saturday from 9
a.m. until noon.
People with disabilities and/or elderly
persons who believe their voting place is
inaccessible are encouraged to vote early or
they may vote in the Election Office on
election day if they notify the office in
writing no later than October 25.
In Carroll County, 19,441 persons are
