MAXEY MOUZON HOPPER
1926-2008
GLEASON: Maxey Mouzon Hopper, 81, died
Friday, April 11 at McKenzie Regional
Hospital. Funeral services were Sunday,
April 13, at 2:30 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral
Home with Rev. Mike Jeffers officiating.
Burial followed in Butler Cemetery in
Gleason.
Mr. Hopper, a cattle dealer, was born May 1,
1926 in Gleason to the late McKinley and
Loreda Spence Hopper. He was a member of the
New Valley Methodist Church. Besides his
parents, he was preceded in death by his
wife, Faye Hopper.
Survivors include: two sons, Don Hopper of
McKenzie and Hal Hopper of Bowling Green,
Kentucky; one daughter, Fonda Voigtman of
Tupelo, Mississippi; one brother, Jerry
Hopper of McKenzie; two sisters, Barbara
Blackburn of McKenzie and Vaida Olds of
Paris; nine grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren.
HILDA MAE CRAIG
1920-2008
BRUCETON: Hilda Mae Craig, 87, died
Wednesday, April 9, at her home. Funeral
services were Sunday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at
Bruceton Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard
Greer officiating. Burial followed in Mt.
Carmel Cemetery.
Mrs. Craig, a retired seamstress for H.I.S.,
was born August 16, 1920 in Benton County to
the late George Thurman and Ada Sparks Bain.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, William Edward Craig;
two sons, Bobby Craig and Weldon Bain; and
three sisters: Lovie Perry, Camilla Presson,
and Mozell Wilham.
Survivors include: one daughter, Thelma Jean
Massey of Bruceton; two sons, Billy Wayne
(Martha) Craig of McKenzie and Ted (Belinda)
Craig of Hollow Rock; two sisters, Juanita
Sparks of Paris and Ovell Hall of Florida;
24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren,
and seven great-great grandchildren.
JEFFREY WALDON WILSON
1966-2008
HUNTINGDON: Jeffrey Waldon Wilson, 41, died
Tuesday, April 8, at his home. Funeral
services were Thursday, April 10, at 2 p.m.
at Chase Funeral Home with Mark White
officiating. Burial followed in Jamison
Cemetery.
Mr. Wilson was born June 21, 1966 in
Bruceton. He served in the National Guard
and was a construction worker for Wasco
Construction Company. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Lisa (Hester) Wilson.
Survivors include: his parents, James and
Peggy Wilson; his fiancιe, Davlon Taylor,
and her children, Byron, Elizabeth and Jacob
all of Huntingdon.
LOIS C. WILLIAMS
1919-2008
HUNTINGDON: Lois C. Williams, 88, died
Thursday, April 10, at the Tennessee State
Veterans Home in Humboldt. Funeral services
were Saturday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at
Dilday Funeral Home with Bro. Fred Ward
officiating. Burial followed in Hickory
Flatt Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams was born April 16, 1919 in
Henderson County to the late Dudley and
Lizzie Rainey Cook. She was a member of
Huntingdon First Baptist Church, a retired
secretary for the County Judge and a
volunteer for Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Allen E. Williams.
Survivors include: one son, Steve Williams
of Huntingdon.
ALLIE V. HOOD
1912-2008
HUNTINGDON: Allie V. Hood, 94, died
Wednesday, April 9, at Huntingdon Health and
Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were
Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at Dilday
Funeral Home with burial in Christian Chapel
Cemetery.
Mrs. Hood was born August 22, 1912 in
Huntingdon to the late John and Lydia Bush
Hall. She was a member of the Christian
Chapel Church of Christ and a homemaker.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Quay Hood; three
brothers, J. B. Hall, Frank Hall, and Willie
Hall; and two sisters, Verdell Hall and
Thelma Crossno.
Survivors include: two brothers, Kenith Hall
of Huntingdon and Odell Hall of Trenton; and
several nieces and nephews.
MAGDALENE DAILY JOWERS
1926-2008
MCKENZIE: Magdalene Daily Jowers, 82, died
Saturday, April 12, at Jackson Regional
Hospital. Funeral services were Tuesday,
April 15, at 2 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home
with burial in Carroll Memorial Gardens in
McKenzie.
Mrs. Jowers was born February 24, 1926 in
Henderson County to the late John and Dena
Arnold Daily. She was a member of Central
Grove Baptist Church in Lexington and
attended Enon Missionary Baptist Church in
McKenzie. Besides her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Ray Von
Jowers; one son, Ray Ramsey Jowers; and one
brother, Floyd Daily.
Survivors include: one daughter, Matilda (
Dale) Cooper of McKenzie; two sons; Jeffrey
(Dana) Jowers of Gleason and Jerome(Cindy)
Jowers of McKenzie; one sister, Dorothy
Davis of McKenzie; one brother, James Lloyd
Daily, Sr, of McKenzie; nine grandchildren,
Leslie (Brooke) Cooper, Eric Jowers, Rene
(Jeremy) Foulk, Courtney Jowers, Whitney
DeVasier, Stephen Brasfield, Jonathan
Brasfield, Jada McAbee and Jordan McAbee;
and four great-grandchildren, Luke Ryan
Cooper, Aly Brasfield, Haley Brasfield and
Hunter Brasfield. |
