Bethel Football Set to Preview 2008 Team Saturday

By Matt Swinea
Bethel Sports Information Director

MCKENZIE – The Bethel Wildcats will take to the gridiron for their annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m. The event wraps up spring practice.

Bethel encourages family, friends and fans to attend.

The defending 2007 Mid-South Conference Champions set a new record in wins going 11-2. They also finished with the highest-ranking in school history, peaking at number four, the highest of any collegiate program in the state of Tennessee (fifth) in the final poll.

Last season marked the second year consecutively that the Wildcats qualified for the NAIA Playoffs and won their first round game.

"We have many returning players with valuable playoff experience," said Head Coach Dino Kaklis. "The players that have been here know where the bar has been set and how hard it is to get there. They are looking to raise the bar even further this next season.”

He concluded, “With our returning players and the talented recruiting class that the coaching staff has assembled coming in, we should be on track to meet our goals."

The Wildcats open Mid-South Conference play at home on September 20, 2008 against the University of the Cumberlands of Kentucky.

Non-conference games for the 2008 schedule are not finalized.
