Jordan Grand Slam Lifts Tigers to 8-6 Victory over Camden
 

BRUCETON (April 17) Buoyed by Chad Jordan’s (3-4) first-inning grand slam home run and Bubba Matlock’s (3-3, home run) solid hitting performance, the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers defeated the Camden Lions, 8-6.

Camden scored one run in the top of the first but fell behind after Tiger Chad Jordan drilled a bases-loaded grand slam to give Central a 4-1 lead.

Camden battled back in the top of the second to score three runs and knot the contest at 4-all.

Camden scored one run in the bottom of the second to reclaim the lead, 5-4.

Tiger pitcher Aaron Runion (2-1) held the Lions scoreless in the top of the third.

Central added 1 run in the bottom of the third to extend its lead to 6-4.

Runions, aided by strong defensive play, held Camden scoreless in the top of the fourth.

Central tacked on an additional run in the bottom of the fourth to extend its lead to 7-4.

Camden scored one run in the top of the fifth and held the Tigers scoreless in the bottom of the fifth to narrow Central’s lead to 7-5.

Lion pitcher Tyler Stepp and Tiger hurler Runion, settling into a fierce pitching duel, held their opposing teams scoreless in the sixth inning.

Camden scored one run in their last at-bat in the top of the sixth before falling to Central, 8-6.

In addition to Jordan and Matlock’s stellar offensive performances, the Tigers were also led by Jarrett Watson (2-4, double).

Camden was led offensively by Andy Travis (4-4, double) and Ross Dudley (3-4, double).

With the win, Central’s record improved to 4-9. Camden dropped to 10-13 with the loss.
