Rebels congratulate Derek
Carr on homerun. (McKenzie -
April 21) The McKenzie Rebels and visiting
Huntingdon Mustangs were sluggish as very
little action occurred in the first two
innings.
The Mustangs sent three up and three down to
start the third inning.
Following a pop-up by Kyle Kirk, Drew Brown
was walked. Rusty Chapman hit a single to
place Brown in scoring position. Derek Carr
was up next and hit a controversial home
run, scoring three RBIs and giving McKenzie
a 3-0 lead. Nick Chappell walked and a
pop-up and groundout to end the inning.
Mustang Colin Laman hit a double to begin
fourth inning action. Brayden Baxter hit a
pop-up out. Cole McAdams hit a double
through an infield gap to bring Laman home,
making the score 3-1. Blake Burke was
walked. Caleb Crocker hit a sacrifice
groundout to bring a runner to third, but
starting Rebel pitcher Clint Kee threw a
strikeout to end the top of the fourth.
Rebel Luke Anderson struck out swinging.
Brandon Sellers hit a single and Kyle Kirk
advanced him to second with a sacrifice
groundout. Drew Brown hit a pop-up to end
the fourth inning.
Huntingdon sent three up and three down in
the top of the fifth inning.
Chapman hit a single and advanced to second
on a sacrifce bunt by Carr. Chappell hit a
single before starting Mustang pitcher
McAdams struck out Tyler Reeder. Parker
Jones swatted a single, bringing home
Chapman to extend the lead 4-1. Anderson
walked to load the bases, but McAdams struck
out Sellers to end the fifth inning.
A walk from Baxter was all the Mustangs
could produce in the sixth inning as McAdams
hit a pop-up and two Huntingdon batters
struck out.
Kirk led off with a single and Brown was hit
with a pitch to start the bottom of the
sixth inning. Chapman tapped a well-placed
bunt and beat the throw to first to load the
bases with no outs. Carr hit a ball deep
into centerfield with a ground rule double
to score two more runs for McKenzie,
furthering the lead to 6-1. Mustang coaches
intentionally walked Chappell to load the
bases again, hoping to set up a double play.
Reeder hit a RBI single and extending the
lead to 7-1. Jones swatted a shot deep into
leftfield, resulting in a ground rule double
extending the lead 9-1. Anderson struck out
swinging, followed by RBI singles from
Sellers and Kirk, which decided the game
with McKenzie winning 11-1. |
