HUNTINGDON (April 2) — In high school softball action, Fillies pitcher Brooke Thomas recorded 19 strikeouts and scattered two hits to lead Huntingdon to a narrow 2-1 victory over McKenzie.

Despite a solid pitching effort, Lady Rebel hurler Sarah Owen absorbed the loss.

Holding the Lady Rebels scoreless in the top of the first inning, Huntingdon scored two runs to take a 2-0 lead.

McKenzie answered with one run in the top of the second inning to narrow the Fillies lead, 2-1.

For the remainder of the contest, Fillie Thomas and Lady Rebel Owen battled in a classic pitching duel as Huntingdon claimed a 2-1 home victory.

Huntingdon was led offensively by Keliea Sullivan (2-3, double).

With the win, Huntingdon’s record improved to 8-4.
