First-Ever Membership Banquet
slated for March 8
PARIS (February 11) Several area sportsmen
and conservationists, united in hopes of
helping the plight southern bobwhite quail,
are seeking public support by hosting the
area's first ever Quail Unlimited chapter
membership banquet on Saturday, March 8, at
the Paris Elks Lodge.
Professional Guide Steve McCadams noted,
Quail once thrived across the rolling hills
and fields of Tennessee where the southern
serenade of a whistling bobwhite was as much
a part of the landscape as blooming
dogwoods, sweet smelling honeysuckle, and
golden broom sage. Unfortunately, quail and
their habitat have rapidly disappeared at an
alarming rate. That's why a covey of
concerned outdoor enthusiasts are uniting
their efforts where their mouths (and
hearts) are.
He continued, More than just a hunting
organization, the newly formed Quail
Unlimited chapter hopes to garner the
support of area wildlife enthusiasts. If
successful, many different species of birds
and animals will benefit from the variety of
seed distribution, food plot management, and
overall improvements to the landscape.
McCadams informed that banquet tickets,
which are only $30, also include Quail
Unlimited membership, magazine, and chance
to win a gun given away that night. Tickets
are now on sale from local committee
members. Member guests can attend for only
$5 and enjoy a buffet meal.
He noted that donors providing a $250 donor
sponsorship will receive three dinner
tickets, chance on sponsor shotgun, special
wildlife print, knife, decal, and inclusion
in a special drawing to win a 10-person
crappie fillet dinner at their home or
business.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be
served at 6:30 PM followed by live and
silent auctions.
