ATWOOD (February 6) — The Lady War Eagles
sprinted to a quick lead with the visiting
Lady Rebels. Plagued by a string of
turnovers, McKenzie’s only scoring of the
period was a lone foul shot. West Carroll’s
Jessica Carter scored two of her six points
in the frame, including a steal and basket
at the buzzer, to give her team a 13-1 lead
after the first quarter.
A 12-point run by West Carroll was answered
by a three-pointer from McKenzie’s Shannon
Doub. War Eagle leading scorer Brittany
Luther, highlighting second quarter action,
converted eight of her sixteen points as
West Carroll lead 34-13 at the half.
The trio of Luther, Carter and Hall,
continuing to propel the Lady War Eagles
through the second half, combined for
fourteen of West Carroll’s twenty third
quarter points. McKenzie scored seven points
and trailed 54-20 at the end of the third
quarter.
With victory secured, Lady War Eagle
back-ups scored sixteen points in the final
quarter as West Carroll won, 70-29.
