HUNTINGDON (December 29) -- In Huntingdon
Point Guard Coca Cola Basketball Tournament
action, the West Carroll War Eagles battled
back from a 33-24 halftime deficit to defeat
the Riverside Panthers 74-66.
Led by the inside scoring of Lee Scott (6),
Riverside led the War Eagles 12-7 at the end
of the first quarter.
Playing aggressively in the block, Scott
continued to pace the Panther offense,
scoring 12 points to give his team a 33-24
lead at the half.
Employing a half-court press and swarming
defense in the paint, West Carroll held
Panther Scott scoreless in the third period.
Capturing its first lead 41-39 at the 3:38
mark via a Thomas Greer three-point
conversion, the War Eagles outscored the
Panthers 25-12 to lead 49-45 at the start of
the fourth period.
West Carrolls Greer took over the contest
in the final frame, converting an impressive
18 free throws to seal the victory for the
War Eagles.
The War Eagles were led offensively by Greer
(37 points, three three-pointers, 24 free
throw conversions), Clint McClain (13),
Xavier Cunningham (6), Brandon Luther (5),
Troy Williams (5), Hayden McClain (4) and
Justin Scruggs (4).
Riverside was led offensively by Scott (24),
Brandon Tibbs (16), Dustin Moore (8), Chase
Barnett (6), Andrew Tate (5), Brian McDonald
(2), Tevin Phelps (2), Rice Robertson (2)
and Ryne Bivens (1). |
