Central Lady Tiger Head Basketball Coach

BRUCETON (January 25) - In high school
basketball action, the Hollow Rock-Bruceton
Central Lady Tigers defeated the Huntingdon
Fillies 76-51.
In the nightcap, the Mustangs defeated the
Tigers 65-48.
Prior to the girl’s game, Central Homecoming
Royalty were announced. Royalty include:
fourth maid-Lauren Scott; third
maid-Courtney Grooms; queen-Jessica Willis
and first maid-Tiffany Cathey. Billy Stevens
was basketball beau.
Central 76, Huntingdon 51.
With Central leading Huntingdon 3-2 at the
6:45 mark of the first period, Central Lady
Tiger Jessica Willis achieved a milestone by
scoring her 1,000th career point. Following
the basket, the game was momentarily halted
as Willis received a standing ovation and
was presented a commemorative basketball by
Lady Tiger coach Dennis Chapman at
mid-court.
Upon resumption of the game, Central
extended its lead to 21-5 at the end if the
first period.
Willis’ nine point second period performance
spurred the Lady Tigers to outscore
Huntingdon 25-15 and extend their lead to
46-20 at the half.
Led by Brittany Bolen’s seven-point
performance, the Fillies scored 19 points
but trailed Central 63-39 at the end of the
third period.
Central’s Allyson Grooms drilled two
three-pointers in the final frame to lead
her team to a commanding 76-51 victory.
The Lady Tigers were led offensively by
Willis (21 points, four three-pointers).
Also contributing scoring for Central were
Brittany Farley (10), Alyssa Koza (nine
points, three three-pointers), Allyson
Grooms (nine points, three three-pointers),
Charmecia Parker (7), Haly Haynes (6), Amber
Kendall (5), Alicia Parker (5), Nikki Walker
(2), Tiffany Cathey (1) and Kimayah Hampton
(1).
The Fillies were led offensively by Bolen
(18 points, two three-pointers) and Deidra
Jordan (15). Also contributing scoring for
Huntingdon were Hayley Hatch (6), Mikelsey
Jordan (5), Tashara Mebane (4) and Samantha
Wilks (3).
Mustangs 65, Tigers 48.
Spurred by Tiger Chad Jordan’s six-point
performance, Central narrowly trailed
Huntingdon 12-11 at the end of the first
period.
Mustang Brandon Taylor responded in the
second period, scoring 12 points as
Huntingdon outscored Central 20-14 to take a
32-25 lead at the half.
Taking advantage of Central’s limited
offensive production in the third period,
Huntingdon outscored the Tigers 19-7 to lead
51-32 at the start of the fourth period
before ultimately winning 65-48.
Huntingdon was led offensively by Taylor
(23), Blake Burke (18 points, four
three-pointers) and Kalb McMinn (12). Also
contributing scoring for the Mustangs were
Caleb Crocker (8), Josh McMackin (3) and
Kevin Smothers (1).
Central was led offensively by Chandler
Jordan (13), Homer Willis (nine points, two
three-pointers), Chad Jordan (8), Bubba
Matlock (6) and Aaron Runion (5). Also
contributing scoring for the Tigers were
Matt Lane (2), Elijah Phillips (2), Nick
