McKENZIE (July 6) — Ice bucket challenges were really popular a few years ago. The concept was to fill a five-gallon bucket with iced water and dump that water on someone’s head as a fundraiser. A recent fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital took the concept to the extreme: ice water from the bucket of a front-end loader. That followed a pie in the face by Johnathan St. Clair. Will Walker had the pleasure of operating the bucket as he eased the levers forward to dump the water on Trent Johnson and Trent’s granddaughter, Lila Colvin. more

GLEASON — Harriet Wilson celebrated her 90th birthday on Sunday, January 21. She was presented with a proclamation by Gleason Mayor Charles Anderson during the celebration at the Gleason First United Methodist Church. more
The Pharmacy Podcast Network (PPN) announced the winners of the 2023, 50 Most Influential Leaders in Pharmacy. Dr. Jay Phipps claimed the #2 spot. According to PPN, one of the reasons Dr. Phipps was selected was his role as the immediate past president of the Tennessee Pharmacist Association’s major Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reform. more

Doyle Randolph Bunn, 1923-1986, was in the 12th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division, captured during the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He was a POW from December 1944 until April 1945. more

McKENZIE — Jamie Brown is now a nationally recognized certified school nurse (NCSN). The award was announced by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Reggie Wiggins. She is the first-ever nurse at McKenzie Special School District to acquire the certification from the National Board for the Certification of School Nurses. She is a nurse at McKenzie High School. more
