McKENZIE (February 8) — The naming of the school’s football stadium in honor of Coach Wade Comer was postponed by the McKenzie Special School District Board of Education in the February 8 meeting. more
McKENZIE (March 7) — Twenty-five McKenzie High School students were allowed to tour the Cachengo facility at the former hospital building in McKenzie. The students were invited to the facility by Cachengo CEO, Ash Young. Members of the Young family and technicians of Cachengo explained the technology company’s mission of providing high-end data storage systems to meet global demands for Edge Computing, Machine Learning (ML), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) by replacing the over-use of single, large CPUs with several smaller ones, embedded in each drive to perform localized computing where the data actually sits. more
HUNTINGDON (January 18) — The contract of Dr. Jonathan Kee, director of schools, was extended by unanimous vote by the Huntingdon Special School District Board of Education on January 18. Dr. Kee’s contract now extends to June 30, 2025, after the one-year extension. more

McKENZIE (March 7) — During the Tuesday evening meeting of the McKenzie Special School District Board of Education board members agreed to add cross country to McKenzie High School’s slate of athletic programs. Faculty member Beth Mathis will serve as the coach. more
Michael Schaffer, a student at Tennessee College of Applied Technology-McKenzie, received a Skill Point Certificate in the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) 5-Axis Milling Programmer program during the 2023 SkillsUSA Championships. The CNC 5-Axis Milling Programmer is a cutting machine that is moved in five different directions and monitored by a numerical computer control rather than by hand. more
ATWOOD (September 7) — The West Carroll Special School District school board approved a $10 million budget for the 2024 fiscal year at their meeting Thursday, Sept. 7. This budget includes a 6.25 percent salary increase for all employees of the district. more
HUNTINGDON — The Huntingdon School Board met in their regular monthly session on Thursday, July 21. They approved several new hires, retirements, transfers, and resignations. more
Bethel University sophomore Gracelyn Eaves is one of 15 students from NAIA and NCCAA colleges across the country selected to participate in the Red Cross Leadership Program for 2023. more
HENDERSON (January 27) — Freed-Hardeman University has released the names of students who made the President’s and Dean’s Lists for the Fall 2022 semester. To be on the President’s List, a student must be full-time and have a 4.0 grade point average. Students on the Dean’s List have earned a minimum 3.4 grade point average for the semester. more
SkillsUSA held the National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) in Atlanta, Georgia during the week of June 20-24, 2022. Paul Prescott of McKenzie, Tennessee competed in the SkillsUSA Nationals and brought home the silver medal in the CNC Milling Contest. more
The 2022 session of McKenzie High School Band Camp was July 11-15 for percussion and color guard students and July 18-22 for all members. The camp lasted from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day, with the band practicing outside in the mornings and inside during the afternoons.  more
McKENZIE — Bethel University held a blood drive on the McKenzie campus and exceeded its goal in blood donations. more
During McKenzie Middle School’s annual Bridge Camp, students worked to invent new and innovative product plans to present to a group of influential business people in McKenzie. McKenzie Middle School’s Bridge Camp is a summer learning camp created to help students reach benchmarks before advancing to the next grade in August. more
McKenzie High School Class of 1972 recently held its 50-year reunion at Chandler’s Barn in McKenzie where a catered dinner, old times and fond memories greeted classmates. Stories from yesteryear helped rekindle friendships and the class had a pictorial tribute during the dinner honoring 24 deceased classmates. more
As McKenzie Elementary School administrators prepare for the first day of school, they are also celebrating the installment of a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) unit inside the school’s gymnasium. more
HUNTINGDON (October 1) — Saturday was a weather-perfect day for an all-day band competition in Huntingdon. Bands traveled from throughout west and middle Tennessee and Mississippi to Paul Ward Stadium on the campus of Huntingdon High School. more
McKENZIE (December 5) — Nine teachers in the McKenzie Special School District were granted tenure during the December 5 meeting of the school board. more
HUNTINGDON — A number of bands competed in the annual Huntingdon Invitational on Saturday, October 1. Local bands involved included McKenzie, West Carroll and Bruceton-Hollow Rock. more
The West Carroll Junior/Senior High School Beta Club members competed in various academic, individual, and team competitions during the 2022 Tennessee State Beta Convention held on November 22. more
