NASHVILLE (August 28) — Tennessee’s Adjutant General, Brig. Gen. Warner Ross, announced today that two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters from Knoxville’s 1-230th Assault Helicopter Battalion have departed this morning for Louisiana to support state, county, and local emergency responders battling the Tiger Island wildfire burning in Beauregard Parish, the largest wildfire in the state’s history. more

The official Walk Across Tennessee Results for Carroll County are in! This challenge was held by the Carroll County UT Extension office September 18-November 12, 2023. There were 11 teams of six that participated this year, and they each worked hard to reach their physical activity goals. All together, the teams walked 12,237.96 miles over eight weeks. That’s the equivalent of walking across Tennessee almost 25 times! more

McKenzie Elementary School’s Fall Festival King and Queen will be crowned during the event on Saturday, October 29, 2022. The festival runs 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McKenzie Elementary School, 165 Brooks Avenue, McKenzie, and also includes a costume contest, games and other fun activities. WASHINGTON, DC (November 29) — The U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), a division within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announced a partnership to distribute free COVID-19 tests to schools across the country. In a letter sent to local education agencies (LEAs) by ED, school districts are being encouraged to order tests directly from the federal government to be made available to students, parents, staff, and school communities. more

McKENZIE — McKenzie Senior Citizens Center has ramped up its activities for persons, aged 55 and up. The center, located at 172 Main Street, South, began the month of October with a dance with music by Larry Morgan, and will end the month with a Halloween potluck lunch on October 27. more
