PARIS — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has received a new piece of equipment to help combat contraband and keep it from entering the jail. On January 31, 2024, HCSD received a body scanner that was located into the booking area of the jail.  more

CANTON, Ohio (February 8) — Former Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School and San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis was named one of seven players inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 2024 class on Thursday night. McKENZIE — Williams Furniture Company, 26 Broadway Street, in downtown McKenzie is closing after 46 years in McKenzie. The family-owned store, owned by Phil Williams, 78, of McLemoresville, is beginning its going out of business sale on Thursday of this week. more

HUNTINGDON (January 29) — The Carroll County Highway Committee met Monday to discuss two pieces of business. The first item was the reduction of elected Road Supervisors from two to one. The second item was moving the Highway Department’s accounting, budgeting and purchasing to the County Mayor’s Office. more
PARIS (February 3) — Jeep enthusiasts descended on Sweet Jordan’s en masse to support the bakery’s mission of employing special needs adults to work and serve the clientele who visit the Paris restaurant, ice cream shop, and bakery. more
McKENZIE (February 3) — The Carroll County Martin Luther King Steering Committee hosted its annual Black History Program at Webb School on February 3, 2024. The theme for the program was “With God’s Grace, We are Still Moving Onward.” The speaker was Dr. Lawanda Jenkins. Music was provided by Mrs. Jackie Johnson and Tyronzia Beene. Brooks Chapel Harvest Kingdom Praise Team Daughters of Promise danced to the music “Jehovah”. more
CARROLL COUNTY — School bus drivers are in short supply, both locally and nationally. Carroll County is facing the same issues of trained drivers as others throughout the state and nation, said John McAdams, director of schools for the County of Carroll. more
HUNTINGDON (January 25) — Carroll County Electric Board of Directors voted to proceed with designing and constructing a new substation in the Leach Community along Highway 70. The growth around Lake Halford and Indian Lake in the Cedar Grove area necessitates the new substation to divert the load from other substations. more
NASHVILLE (January 24) — On Wednesday, January 24, the Tennessee Historical Commission’s State Review Board met to decide on furthering Webb School’s nomination on to the National Register of Historic Places. The board unanimously approved moving the nomination forward to the National Park Service for final approval to the National Register. If placed on the registry, Webb School would then be eligible for National Park Service-administered federal preservation tax credits and grant programs. more

HUNTINGDON (January 17) — The contract of Dr. Jonathan Kee, director of schools, was extended by unanimous vote by the Huntingdon Special School District Board of Education on January 17. Dr. Kee’s contract now extends to June 30, 2026, after the one-year extension. more
