HUNTINGDON/McKENZIE (May 3, 7) — Carroll Arts put a spotlight on the abundance of talented teen artists in Carroll County this month with its annual high school art competition.
The official Carroll Arts High School Art Competition was held Friday, May 3 at Carroll Bank & Trust in Huntingdon, featuring 24 pieces by artists at Huntingdon, West Carroll, Clarksburg and Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central high schools.
Three highly-qualified judges analyzed the art using ten criteria, including originality, creativity, design elements and skill. Five pieces were awarded ribbons. First place received $100, second place received $50 and third place received $35; there were two honorable mentions.

Winners were: First Place — Amelia McAfee, West Carroll, “Wild Feather” in Sharpie and pencil; Second Place — Natalie Moore, West Carroll, “Byron Bay” in acrylic; Third Place — Maggie Glass, Huntingdon, “Static Perception” in pencil; Honorable Mention — Natalie Moore, West Carroll, “Five Generations” photograph; Honorable Mention — Jaylon Yarbrough, Huntingdon, “I Got Horses in the Back” in pencil.
Carroll Arts representatives Glynda Rich and Denise Sam extended thanks to Carroll Bank & Trust for hosting the event for many years.
