Carroll County Remains in Top 10

NASHVILLE — Carroll County is ranked 89 of 95 Tennessee counties in unemployment placing it again in the unenviable designation of the top 10 in unemployment for the month of June 2019. The county recorded 6.0 percent unemployment, up from 4.6 in May and 5.8 percent one year earlier.
Of 12,274 in the labor force, 11,538 were employed and 736 were unemployed.
Neighboring Henry County recorded an unemployment percentage at 4.5 percent, up from 3.6 in May and slightly down from June 2018. Of 14,820 in the labor force, 14,154 were employed and 666 were unemployed.
Weakley County record a rate of 4.9 percent unemployment, up from 3.4 percent in May and 4.9 in June 2018. From a labor force of 16,379, 15,578 were employed and 801 were unemployed.

Obion County recorded a rate of 5.4, Benton, 5.6, Henderson, 4.8, and Madison, 4.2.
Unemployment was up in all 95 counties.
The top 10 in employment are mostly in middle Tennessee with Williamson, Davidson, Sevier (east Tennessee), Rutherford, Sumner, Cheatham, Wilson, Maury, Robertson, and Moore counties comprising the top 10 best.
The bottom 10 in unemployment are Hancock, Clay, Rhea, Bledsoe, Lake, Lauderdale, Carroll, Dyer, McNair, and Unicoi.
Northwest Tennessee Region leads the pack in unemployment. Those are Benton, Carroll, Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, Henry, Lake, Obion, and Weakley.
