Day of Prayer Commemorated in County

The 68th Annual National Day of Prayer was May 2 and was observed in Carroll County, Thursday, May 2, 8 a.m. at the Carroll County Airport.
The theme for 2019 was Love One Another, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of our Fathers in reverence for his Holy name. The theme was from John 13:34, where Jesus says, “Love one another. Just as I have loved you.”
The event was hosted by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce. It was a time to pray for the country, state, county, neighbors and friends.

The following persons participated in leading prayers with an emphasis of one area.
The opening prayer was led by Bob Rutledge, who served emcee for the event. He led in the National Day Prayer; the other participants led the attendees in the following prayers: Billy Graham’s Prayer for the Nation, Ben Whitehead; Prayer for Carroll County Citizens, Joseph Butler; Prayer for State Leaders, Natalie Porter; Prayer for Carroll County K-12 Schools, John Austin; Prayer for God’s Word, Walter Winchester; Prayer for Carroll County Churches, Ryan Griffin; Prayer for our Military, Lynn Watkins; Prayer for Local Leaders, Jeruna Cozart; Prayer for Utility Workers, Danny Brawner; Prayer for our Young People, Josh Crawford; Prayer for Bethel University, Ann Hames; Prayer for Business Community, Rod Sturdivant, Prayer for First Responders, Terry Bradshaw; Prayer for Federal and World Leaders, Jacob Harris; Prayer for Farmers, Hal Eason; Prayer for our Veterans, Tom O’Bryant; Prayer for Healthcare Providers, Melissa Powell; Prayer for the Needy, Brad Hurley; and President Washington’s Prayer for our Nation, Joe Smothers.
Brent Dillahunty led attendees in several religious songs.
Rutledge led the attendees in the Lord’s Prayer to close the ceremony.
