Fillies Claim Title with Win Over West Carroll

ATWOOD (May 7) — The Huntingdon Fillies clinched the District 11A Softball Championship Tuesday with a 9-4 win over the West Carroll Lady War Eagles.
With the win, the Fillies would host Loretto Monday for a Region 6A semifinal. As the runner-up, the Lady War Eagles would travel to Summertown.
West Carroll struck first with a pair in the top of the first, and Huntingdon answered with one in the home half, then took a big lead with six in the second. After three scoreless frames, the Lady War Eagles rallied for a pair in the top of the sixth, but the Fillies matched that in the bottom half.
Huntingdon’s Kaci Fuller was 4-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run, a triple, two doubles, four RBIs and three runs scored. Kelsey Hayes was 2-for-4 with a double.

Leah Hayes was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Kenadie Gibson was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Ryleigh Bailey was 1-for-3 with two runs scored. Kayla Pulling and Rylee Holladay were each 1-for-3 with a run scored. Grace Guarino was 1-for-4 with a run scored.
West Carroll’s Alyssa Butler was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Macey Cunningham was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Shatara Brooks was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Zoey Cook was 1-for-3. Sadie Martin was 1-for-4. Kayce Stafford was 0-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. Tatym Keymon was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
Caitlin Kreuziger earned the win for the Fillies, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out nine and walking five in five innings. Adyn Swenson pitched two innings of relief, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out four and walking none.
Shelby Browning took the complete-game loss for the Lady War Eagles, allowing nine runs (six earned) on 12 hits while striking out six and walking none.
