GALLATIN, Tenn. - John Bentley Rawdon, age 77, of Gallatin, Tennessee, died Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

He was born in Obion Tennessee to Mary (Austin) Rawdon and the late Herbert Rawdon. 

Bentley spent his life as an educator in Tennessee. He also served as a Methodist minister in his earlier years, and was the superintendent in McKenzie, Tennessee and later worked in higher education for Bethel University.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judi (Stanfill) Rawdon, one daughter Shannon (Jason) Brady of Maryville, one son, Shawn (Erica) Rawdon, and four grandchildren, two siblings, Cecelia Callis and Wayne Rawdon.


Funeral services for Bentley are Friday, October 26, 2018, 10 a.m. in the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m., and again Friday October 26, 9 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 am.
