Mrs. Julia Overton Roark, age 71, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Clarksburg Church of Christ.  Interment will follow at Hampton Cemetery in Huntingdon, Tennessee.

Judy was born on February 13, 1947.  She grew up in Tennessee and Michigan and graduated from Dexter High School in Dexter, Michigan.  She married Randall Roark on April 14, 1972, and they spent more than 46 years together on their farm in Huntingdon where they raised three sons.

Judy received a B.A. from the University of Tennessee at Martin and an M.A. from Trevecca Nazarene University.  Señora Roark taught Spanish for more than 20 years at Huntingdon High School and also later taught at Clarksburg High School.  Judy was an avid traveler and led numerous Carroll Countians on trips to Europe and beyond.  Her passion was people – her family, her friends, her students, and her church.  No one remained a stranger in her presence for very long.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, Harry Overton.

She is survived by her mother, Nell Overton of Milan, Tennessee;  sister, Linda (Don) Wright of Martin, Tennessee; husband, Randall Roark; sons, Brian (Margaret) Roark of Nashville, Tennessee, Bradley (Molly) Roark of Nashville, Tennessee, and Burton Roark of Atlanta, Georgia; brother-in-law, Thomas Roark of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and her five grandchildren, Maia, Peter, Annie, Isaac, and Millie.

The family will receive friends at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9-11 AM at the Clarksburg Church of Christ.  Gifts in her memory may be made to Huntingdon High School Student Hardship Fund c/o Jonathan Kee (475 Fairgrounds Rd., Huntingdon, TN 38344) or to the charity of one’s choice.
