BRUCETON (April 2) — The Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School Lady Tigers hosted the West Carroll Lady War Eagles Tuesday for a District 11A softball contest. The game was tight from start to finish, but the Lady War Eagles hung on for a 6-5 win.
West Carroll struck first with a pair of runs in the top of the first, but Central responded with one in the home half. After four scoreless frames, each side plated a run in the sixth. The Lady War Eagles opened up a lead with three runs in the seventh, and a Lady Tiger rally in crunch time came up just short at three runs.
Lady War Eagle Ashton Worrell was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and a run scored. Kayce Stafford was 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and a run scored. Macey Cunningham was 2-for-4 with a double. Alyssa Butler was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Sadie Martin was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases. Shelby Browning and Alexis Houston were each 2-for-4.
