ATWOOD (May 7) — After losing a thrilling nine-inning game to the McKenzie Lady Rebels the previous Friday to open the tournament, the West Carroll Lady War Eagles avenged the loss in a Tuesday rematch. It was another intense battle, more dramatic because it was an elimination game, and the Lady War Eagles rallied late for a 3-1 victory.
With the win, the Lady War Eagles advanced to the title game against Huntingdon immediately following the McKenzie contest. With the loss, the Lady Rebels’ season came to an end.
After four scoreless frames, West Carroll struck first with a run in the top of the fifth. McKenzie plated a run in the home half of the sixth to tie it going into the final frame. The Lady War Eagles pushed across two runs in the top of the seventh to claim the win.
