COCHRAN, Ga. — The No. 21 Bethel Lady Wildcats won their second straight SSAC game with a 69-57 win at Middle Georgia State Saturday in Cochran, Georgia. They had won at Faulkner Thursday night to open conference play. The Lady Cats moved to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in SSAC action. Bethel is 5-0 in Cochran and 7-0 overall in the series between the two programs. Middle Georgia fell to 4-4 and 1-1.

Middle Georgia led 16-14 after the first quarter and led 22-18 with three minutes left in the second quarter but the Lady Wildcats used a 13-1 run to lead at the break 31-23.

Bethel extended their lead to double digits in the second half but MGS battled back to get within two at one point. The Lady Wildcats behind the scoring of Tyasia Willis (24) and Myah Taylor (23) finished strong to win. Morgan Martin had a game high 13 rebounds and Jayden Green a game high eight assists to enable the Lady Cats to move to 78-15 all-time in SSAC play.

Bethel shot 39 percent from the floor while MGS finished at 31 percent from the floor. Bethel was 10-of-36 from the three-point area while Middle Georgia was just 2-of-21 in trey attempts. Bethel had a commanding 46-31 rebound advantage.

Joy Sadler led MGS with 17 points.

Coach Chris Nelson commented on the victory. “It has always been tough down here on the road at MGA and it was no different today. It’s a great way to finish off the road trip. It was a joint effort on everyone’s part.  They play a wide match -up zone and we had to be creative the way we attacked it. Jayden Green did a great job finding players with her eight assists and Morgan and Ty were dominate on the glass. Myah and Ashton also hit some key three point baskets at critical moments in the game.”

The Lady Wildcats return to action Saturday traveling to Gallatin, Tennessee to meet Welch College. It will be the first meeting ever between the Flames and the Lady Wildcats.
