10 YEARS AGO — Darrell Blaylock was appointed chief executive officer at McKenzie Regional Hostpital. He had previously served as assistant CEO at Regional Hospital of Jackson.
20 YEARS AGO — A violent storm ravaged Carroll County and the surrounding area, causing widespread damage. Most notably, the home of Don and Sky Eva Luter on Clay Farm Road near McLemoresville was lifted from its foundation and thrown nearly 200 feet by a tornado.
Both were seriously injured, and Mr. Luter succumbed to his injuries several days later.
50 YEARS AGO — Showing at the Park Theatre: The Green Berets starring John Wayne and David Janssen; Rachel, Rachel starring Joanne Woodward and James Olson; and Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner starring Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn.
