10 YEARS AGO — Dana company officials announced that the Plumley McKenzie Plant would close by midsummer. At the time of the announcement, the facility employed 108 hourly and salaried workers.
*Construction began on the lake headquarters at the future site of the Carroll County 1,000-Acre Recreation Lake in the Leach community.
20 YEARS AGO — Senior Tamara Price was crowned West Carroll High School Homecoming Queen. Other members of the royalty included Ashley Anders, Ann Mathes, Shaketha Mebane and Mary Hart.
50 YEARS AGO — Showing at the Park Theatre: The Flim Flam Man starring George C. Scott; Buckskin; The Heart is a Lonely Hunter starring Alan Arkin and Sondra Locke; and The Split starring Jim Brown and Diahann Carroll.
