10 YEARS AGO — NFL Hall-of-Famer and former Trezevant High School football captain Gene Hickerson died at age 73.
*Tori McQuesten was crowned Huntingdon High School’s Homecoming Queen. Other members of the royalty included Erin McCree, Caitlin Cole, Britany Coleman, Hailey Burke, Robyn Edwards, Laura Bush and Alli McClure.

*The McKenzie Marching Rebels competed in the West Tennessee Small Band Competition in Trenton, sweeping Class A2 with first place in band, percussion, color guard and field commander. Overall, against 16 other bands, they earned second place guard and field commander and third place percussion.
20 YEARS AGO — A $25,000 trailer loaded with nearly $20,000 worth of furniture was stolen from the New Generations’ lot on Rochelle Road near the Carroll County Airport.
50 YEARS AGO — Showing at the Park Theatre: Journey to Shiloh; Vampire Killers starring Jack MacGowran; Grand Prix starring James Garner; and The Young Runaways starring Brooke Bundy and Keith Couglin.
