McKenzie Falls in Area 5 Conference Championship

McKenzie Middle’s successful baseball season came to a close with a loss to Inman in the Area 5 Championship on Monday, May 6.
After a scoreless opening inning for both teams, McKenzie drew the first scores with four runs in the top of the second inning. Inman answered with three runs in the bottom of the second. The Rebels maintained a 4-3 lead until the bottom of the fourth with Inman plating a pair of runs to take a 5-4 lead. Inman added a solo insurance run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 6-4, the final score.

The Rebels scored their four runs on five hits with Hayden Garrett, Nolan Renfro, Chaten Bivens, Tate Surber, and Lane Anderson producing all of the hits. Bivens, Anderson, Jackson Cassidy, and Landon Brown scored the four runs for the Rebels.
Ty Anderson went 5 1/3 innings on the mound giving up six runs on seven hits while striking out five and walking two. Nolan Renfro came in and finished the final inning for the Rebels.
McKenzie finished 15-6 on the year with five of their six losses coming against Inman in close contests and their other loss came to Milan in the season opener.
