McKenzie Garden Club April News

The McKenzie Garden Club met Friday, April 26 at the home of Victoria Ard. On arrival, members were served a buffet of sandwiches, fruit and desserts.
President, Myra Sasser called the meeting to order. Roll call was done with 15 members present. New member, Carolyn Moore was introduced by Victoria. Minutes from the last meeting were read. They were approved as read. Gladys Patterson, communications chair reported on cards sent.

Improvements to Triangle Park were discussed and it was decided to purchase mulch to use at the park while it’s on sale. Under new business, several members planted flowers at the Alumni Garden at Bethel University. Flowers were purchased by Dennis Kiefer, alumnus of Bethel in the sixties. Work was not completed due to extensive need of grass removal. The club voted to postpone any further work due to such a large undertaking.
Randy McCadams showed a slide presentation on Rainwater Conservation. He explained water requirements for the population is 27.7 billion gallons daily. Agriculture requires 50 billion gallons per day. In third world countries water is saved in barrels or other large containers and purified with chlorine.
The meeting was adjourned with the reading of the collect. Hostesses for the May meeting will be Angie Menne and Ann Montgomery
