McKenzie Garden Club Meets

Posted

The McKenzie Garden Club met Friday, November 16 at McKenzie Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Hostesses for the occasion were Sarah Brown, Martha Sue Peters and Gladys Patterson. Vice President Donna Herrin called the meeting to order. Roll call was done with 12 members present. Correspondence Secretary Gladys Patterson reported on various cards sent. Cynthia Summers read the financial report, which was unanimously approved. With election of new officers soon, paper ballots were given to each member to vote for their choice of each office.
Glynda Rich gave the devotional called “God’s Flowers.” This devotional was prepared 25 years ago by Glynda and her mother, Ms. Millie Finley. Pictures of flowers were shown with characteristics of each one.

There was no old business at this time. Under new business, members discussed the add-a-dish luncheon on December 21, which will be held at Glynda Rich’s home. Linda Howton made a motion that, instead of buying gifts for each other, each member should bring $20 to give out to a needy family. The motion was seconded and passed.
Julia Winters, assisted by Zia Locke, showed slides of flowers and landscapes she had photographed on her many travels throughout the United States.
Refreshments were then served to members and guests. The collect was read and the meeting was adjourned.
