McKenzie Marshal Slain in 1898 Will Be Memorialized

McKENZIE/WASHINGTON DC — A McKenzie city marshal, who was slain during an ambush on December 7, 1898 in McKenzie, Tennessee, will be memorialized in two ceremonies.
City Marshal A.D. Bryant was killed in the line of duty while eating supper. He was ambushed and shot in the head twice. The perpetrator later committed suicide.

McKenzie Police Department plans a memorial service for Marshal Bryant at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The time and date have not been determined.
He will be memorialized at the National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial in Washington on May 13, 2019. His memory will be dedicated to the memorial at the 13th Annual Candlelight Vigil during National Police Week.
McKenzie Police Department is searching for any family descendants of Marshal Bryant.
