McKenzie Middle School Softball Season Begins

McKenzie Middle School’s Lady Rebels opened up their softball season with a 3-1 record in the opening four games of the season.
MMS at Inman
The Lady Rebels opened the season at Paris Inman on Monday, August 6 with a 9-2 win. Katie Prather, Kylie Reynolds and Kassidy Brown scored runs in the top of the 1st inning to take an early 3-0 lead. Prather scored again in the 2nd inning to make it a 4-0 game. Neither team scored in the 3rd inning but in the top of the 4th, Lady Rebel bats got hot generating a 5-run inning to build a 9-0 lead. Prather scored her third run and Kylie Reynolds got her second run while Savannah Davis, Peyton Ognibene, and Mikaela Reynolds all scored. Inman scored a pair in the bottom of the inning to finish the scoring. Peyton Ognibene took the win on the mound for the Lady Rebels.
MMS vs Inman
McKenzie hosted Inman on Tuesday August 7 in their first home contest with the contest not going as well as the previous day. The Lady Rebels lost 7-5 in a close one for their only loss of the young season.

The tables were turned with Inman getting an early three-run lead in the 1st inning. Savannah Davis scored a lone run in the bottom of the first to make it 3-1 in favor of Inman. Neither team mounted any scoring offense in the 2nd inning. Inman failed to score in the top of the 3rd but McKenzie got the bats going in the bottom of the third and got runs from Savannah Davis, Katie Prather, Kylie Reynolds, and Kassidy Brown to take a 5-3 lead heading into the 4th inning.
Inman plated 4 runs in the top of the 4th to retake the lead 7-5 and held McKenzie scoreless in the bottom of the inning hand the Lady Rebels the loss. Katie Prather took the loss on the mound for MMS.
MMS vs Dresden
Monday August 13th McKenzie Middle played host to Dresden in what turned into a lopsided 18-0 blitzing of Dresden Junior High. All of the starters scored in the 2-inning contest and most of them scored twice. McKenzie plated 8 runs in the 1st and 10 runs in the 2nd holding Dresden to just 1 hit on the afternoon.
MMS at Bruceton
McKenzie Middle hit the road on Tuesday, August 14 to Bruceton and ended up winning a nailbiter in extra innings. The first three innings went scoreless for both teams. McKenzie drew first blood with a Kylie Reynolds run in the top of the 4th. Bruceton answered plating a run in the bottom of the 4th inning. It remained tied 1-1 with no scoring in the 5th. Katie Prather broke the tie with a run in the top of the 6th while Peyton Ognibene added an insurance run later in the inning. Bruceton was held scoreless in the bottom of the inning to secure the win.
