McKENZIE (November 26) — McKenzie Middle School hosted West Carroll Monday for its final home games of the season. The Lady Rebels coasted to a 52-17 win in the opener, but the boys played a thriller. The War Eagles kept it close for three quarters to trail by just three points going into the fourth, but the Rebels pulled away late for a 40-26 victory.
Eighth grade players and cheerleaders were recognized on the court between games. Eighth grade cheerleaders are Alajah Gilbert, Allie Laser, Anna Claire Patel and Lilly Sumrok. Lady Rebels are Briley Auvenshine, Ashlyn Burnine, Hannah Dillingham, Madison Gilbert, Caley McCaslin, Payton Ognibene, Katie Prather, Kylie Reynolds and Aaliyah Teague. Rebels are Zach Aird, Ralph Dennie, Jr., Bryant Haynes, Kendall Seavers, Bryson Steele, Marquez Taylor, Etijay Tharpe and Zay Webber.

The Lady Rebels took an 11-5 lead after the opening frame, led by Briley Auvenshine with six points. Payton Ognibene had three points, and Kylie Reynolds had a pair. Kaylee Butler scored five points for West Carroll.
McKenzie pulled away with an 18-6 advantage in the second quarter. MiKaela Reynolds led with seven points, including a three-pointer. Savannah Davis scored six. Aaliyah Teague had four points, and Auvenshine hit a free throw. Butler scored all six for the Lady War Eagles. At the half, the Lady Rebels led 29-11.
The Lady Rebels enjoyed a 14-4 tilt in the third, led by K. Reynolds with seven, inlcuding a three. Teague, Ognibene and Caley McCaslin each had a pair, and Auvenshine hit another freebie. Butler and Janzen Winberry each had a pair for West Carroll. Entering the final frame, the Lady Rebel lead was 43-15.
McKenzie closed the win with a quick, 9-2 fourth. Davis and Teague each scored three points. Hannah Dillingham had a pair, and Nicole Gibson hit a free throw. Lady War Eagle Kymbrianna Ross had two points.
