Mustangs Sweep Tigers in Home-Away Pair

HUNTINGDON/BRUCETON (April 16-17) — The Huntingdon Mustangs and Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers played a pair of District 11A baseball contests last week. The Mustangs were dominant on both sides of the ball on both days to claim the sweep.
Tuesday, Huntingdon hosted and scored in each frame to win 15-0 in four and a half innings behind Hunter Ensley’s no-hitter.
Wednesday, Central hosted, but the result was much the same as the Mustangs again scored in each inning to earn a 14-1 win in six frames.
Huntingdon Mustangs 15, Central Tigers 0
Huntingdon scored a run in the bottom of the first, seven in the second, one in the third and six in the fourth.
Mustang Hunter Ensley was 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, two walks, four RBIs and a run scored. Reed Jones was 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored. Kelby Pearson was 3-for-3 with with a double, a walk, two RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base. Brett Huss was 1-for-1 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Sam Parrish was 2-for-4. Brandon Lawton was 1-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Dillon Mann and Jace Lowe were each 0-for-0 with a walk and an RBI. Quinten Williams was 0-for-0 with a walk and a run scored. Bo McLemore was 0-for-1 with three walks and three runs scored. Konnor Pearson was 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored. Tiger Preston Hollingsworth was 0-for-0 with a walk. Brayden Frye was 0-for-1 with a walk. Hunter Ensley earned the no-hitter for Huntingdon, striking out eleven and walking two in five innings.

Conner Gaia took the loss for Central, allowing eight earned runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking three in an inning and a third. Brayden Frye threw two-thirds of an inning, allowing one earned run on no hits and three walks. Mac Hooten pitched the final two frames, allowing six unearned runs on two hits while striking out three and walking six.
Mustangs 14, Tigers 1
Huntingdon scored a run in the top of each of the first two innings, three in the third, one in the fourth, three in the fifth and five in the sixth. Central plated a lone run in the bottom of the sixth.
Mustang Reed Jones was 2-for-3 with a grand slam home run, a walk, four RBIs and a run scored. Bo McLemore was 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. Konnor Pearson was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Brett Huss was 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Brandon Lawton was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Hunter Ensley was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Cole Edwards was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Kelby Pearson was 1-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Sam Parrish was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Austin Baker was 0-for-0 with a walk and two runs scored. Shawn Carter was 0-for-0 with a walk and an RBI. Tiger Mac Hooten was 2-for-3 with a double. Gage Lowry was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Malik Mathis was 1-for-2 with a walk. Brennen Hollingsworth and Reece Patterson were each 1-for-3. Zane Mebane was 0-for-2 with an RBI.
Jace Lowe earned the complete-game win for Huntingdon, allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out two and walking two in six innings.
Thomas Crews took the loss for Central, allowing 12 runs (nine earned) on 12 hits while striking out three and walking two in five innings. Brennen Hollingsworth pitched the final frame, allowing two earned runs on one hit while striking out three and walking three.
