Purse-Snatcher Reported to MPD

Posted

McKENZIE (August 12) — The McKenzie Police Department received a complaint Sunday of a “purse-snatching” on Stonewall Street.
According to an MPD press release, the victim stated that she and her husband had just returned home from grocery shopping when the theft occurred. Her husband let the victim out in front of their residence before parking their car in the garage.
The victim said as she was getting out of the car, she noticed a black male in a small, blue or black car driving slowly by her house. As the victim was walking up the sidewalk, she noticed this car stop in a neighbor’s driveway, turn around and drive back toward her residence. The driver pulled into her driveway and stopped. The driver of this car got out and quickly walked toward her as he asked for directions to Jackson. As the victim was preparing to give him directions, the driver suddenly grabbed her purse from her shoulder, ran back to his car and fled the scene.

The victim immediately ran inside and called the police department. The victim’s husband did not see the incident, because he was parking their car in the garage.
The victim described the suspect as a slender-built, light-skinned black male, approximately 22-23 years old. He had short hair and was clean shaven.
