Rebels Fall in Region Championship, Sectional to End Season

McKENZIE/MEMPHIS (May 16, 18) — The McKenzie High School Rebel soccer team ended its season last week with two losses, one at home in the Region 7A Championship game and one in the Sectional round with a chance to advance to the state tournament.
Thursday, the Rebels hosted the Douglass Red Devils at Bethel University’s Wildcat Stadium for the region title.
The Red Devils took the crown with a 4-1 win. Francisco Padilla scored McKenzie’s lone goal, and Will Essary and Nate Whitsell split time at goalkeeper. Save totals for each were unavailable by press time.
With the loss, the Rebels traveled to Memphis Saturday to face the Memphis Business Execs. Memphis Business took a 7-0 win. Goalkeeper Will Essary recorded 17 saves.
