Rotarians Hear About Stock Market, Economy

Posted

McKENZIE (March 19) — McKenzie Rotary Club heard about the stock market and the economy during a presentation by Brents Priestley, a representative of Edwards Jones and also a member of the McKenzie Rotary Club.
The most recent significant downturn in the market ended March 9, 2009 after the market had declined 57 percent.
Now, after a 10-year expansion, it is the longest continuously expanding market in U.S. history. In late 2018, the market declined because of a partial government shutdown and U.S.-China trade issues. Earlier in the Rotary year, Priestley spoke about the Boy Scouts camp at Philmont and its unique challenges to hikers and campers.
McKenzie Rotary is a service club that meets each Tuesday noon at Bethel University’s Vera Low Center. For more information, e-mail mckenzierotaryclub@gmail.com.
