 McKENZIE — Funeral services for Russell Todd Newman “Rusty” are Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 4 to p.m. -8 p.m. and Thursday 11:00 a.m. until service time. Brother Dennis Trull is the officiant and burial is at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, McKenzie, Tenn.

Pallbearers to serve are Aaron Oakley, Cameron Oakley, Grant Newman, Clay Newman, Brian Bennett and Tim Carter. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Smith, Dave Wood, Gabe Clericuzio, Jimmy Crossett, Dave Hacker, Ben Whitehead, Missy Reeder, Robyn Hatler and Kirsten Sass. 

Mr. Newman, age 55, died Monday, July 8, 2019 at Henry County Medical Center. He is a member of First Baptist Church, a deacon, and co-owner/ manager of McKenzie Auto Parts. He is a graduate of McKenzie High School and Bethel Success program. Rusty enjoyed training and competing for marathons, and cycling events which challenged him to try open swim which led to competing in triathlons.

He was born November 4, 1963 in Milan, Tenn. to Marvin and Mary Elizabeth Newman. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Max Bennett and Curtis and Amanda Newman.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Lisa Aldridge Newman of McKenzie, daughter, Rachel Newman of McKenzie, two sons, Mark (Lauren) Newman of Memphis and Zachary (Riley Toombs) Newman of McKenzie, his parents, Marvin and Mary Newman of McKenzie, two sisters, Nina (Jeff) Owen of Suwannee, Georgia and Amanda (John) Oakley of McKenzie, two brothers, Carey (Heather) Newman of McKenzie and Joseph (Stefanie) Newman of Maryville, great-grandmother, Corene Bennett and granddaughter, Ava Newman.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that any memorials be made to S.O.S. (Service over Self) 2505 Poplar Memphis, TN 38112 or online sosmemphis.org\donate.
