McKENZIE – Steven A. Savage of Cocoa, Florida, died November 10 at his residence after a three-year battle with lung cancer. He was in hospice care and the care of his amazing life partner, Bill Whitman.

He was born November 8, 1958 in McKenzie and attended McKenzie High School, graduating with a GED in 1976. While in school, he was employed at McKenzie Hospital and a McKenzie nursing home, where he worked as a tech and a phlebotomist. A few years after graduation, he moved to Cape Canaveral, Florida, where he continued in the medical field at Cape Canaveral Hospital and Smith Kline and also worked part-time to deliver the Florida Today newspaper.

Steven is preceded in death by his parents, Thelbert Paul and Mary Elizabeth Molloy Savage of McKenzie, a sister, Barbara Ann Savage Hollis, and two brothers, Joseph Lewis and Harry Savage, all from McKenzie.

He is survived by a sister, Vera Savage (William) Shipp of McKenzie, and his brothers, Paul (JoAnn)O Savage of McKenzie, James Wendell Savage of McKenzie, Freddie Savage of Paris, Mike (Beth) Savage of Paris, Larry (Deirda) Savage of Paducah, Kentucky, and Jeff (Ed Diffon) Savage of Chicago, Illinois.

Interment of his remains will be in McKenzie at a private family gathering.

Steven lived in Florida for 32 years but still remained an avid reader of his hometown newspaper, The McKenzie Banner.
