Tennessee College of Applied Technology Takes the Gold

Posted

Every year, thousands of students put their skills to the test, with the aspirations of winning the gold. Much like the Olympics, students from across the United States compete in SkillsUSA to showcase their skills.
To participate in this national competition, one must first compete in discipline specific events locally, and then at the state level. Those selected to compete in the national competition, earn the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and their ability to apply it on a national stage.
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology in McKenzie, Tennessee, HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) students were among the 6,000 contestants in the 2018 competition. Making it to the national competition is quite an honor and winning a gold would be tremendous honor for any school.
However, the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (McKenzie) had not one, but two HVACR gold medalist. Congratulations to Casey Dowell the 2018 Gold Medalist for HVAC at the college level, and April Arhibald the 2018 Gold Medalist for Major Appliance and Refrigeration Technology at the college level.
