Trezevant Approves Future Raises for Mayor, Board

Posted

TREZEVANT — The Board of Aldermen met in their regular monthly session, Tuesday, March 12, following a lengthy public hearing regarding the town’s water and sewer system.
The board finished action that actually was done several years ago and approved raises for the mayor and aldermen. The board isn’t allowed to vote raises for themselves but they did make it possible for the next board to receive raises starting after the 2020 elections. The board approved $150 per month for the mayor and $75 per month for aldermen. Prior to approval, alderman Eddie Granger, addressed Jeff Goad, Finance Officer for Trezevant, asking if the budget could handle the increases. Goad indicated it should be fine at this time.

Aldermen also approved a $25 increase in driving school fees requested by Police Chief Mike Mulligan. He told the board that other area departments were increasing their fees from $100 to $125. He also informed the board that the department’s policies and procedures manual is 15 years old and has been updated and will be ready for the board to approve next month.
Jeff Goad approached the board with a resolution to set threshold capitalization. Goad indicated this resolution gets the town in line with state budgeting requirements. The board approved the measure.
The board heard an update from Pam Bryant on Deere Lane and Foster Street. Bryant indicated after research and talking to people that Foster Street is a private drive and no one seems to know if Deere Lane is a private drive or city street. So more researching will need to be done and will be brought back to the board in April.
