United Neighbors Receives Donation to Help with Food Drive

McKENZIE (December 11) — McKenzie-Carroll County United Neighbors received a donation of $2,000 to help purchase Blessing Boxes of food for 150 families in the community. The food was distributed on Saturday, December 15 at First Baptist Church-McKenzie.

Saudia Akins, director of the United Neighbors, said the financial support of the people of First Baptist Church and the Moore Fund will provide a box of meat, vegetable, dressing, fruit, milk, and other perishable and non-perishable foods.

The food was purchased at a discount from Save-A-Lot in McKenzie.

United Neighbors and Save-A-Lot partnered to provide some of the food. Patrons of the store purchased pre-packaged non-perishable items to give to families that need some assistance at Christmas. Those bags are included in the Blessing Boxes.

The Fannye Baxter Moore Fund is a trust administered by the McKenzie Rotary Club to serve the “worthy, needed” citizens of McKenzie.
