McKENZIE — Members of the Carroll County Humane Society volunteered their services to wait tables for tips to benefit the animals under their care at the local animal shelter. The Society members work tirelessly to provide food, shelter, and health services to dogs and cats - some abandoned. They rely heavily on donations. more
McKENZIE (March 21) — John Tucker, CEO of Henry County Medical Center, was the speaker at the Rotary Club of McKenzie on March 21. Tucker told club members of recent changes at the hospitals, its services, and challenges for rural hospitals. more
McKENZIE (MARCH 22) — The number of candidates for the director of McKenzie Special School District was narrowed to five from seven during the March 22 workshop meeting of the Board of Education. HUNTINGDON — The Dixie Performing Arts Center hosted its second-annual Designing Women Curated Market, which highlights female-owned businesses across the state of Tennessee, Friday, March 17, and Saturday, March 18. The Designing Women Curated Market was birthed from the influence of Dixie Carter in her female-empowered role in the popular television show “Designing Women.” more

In 1999, the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce began sponsoring the Youth Leadership Carroll County (YLCC) program. Since that time, more than 570 students have graduated from YLCC. The classes are comprised of class members from each Carroll County high school. The program is made up of four sessions, two in the fall and two in the winter. more
McKENZIE — A team of 25 students from Bethel University’s Physician Assistant (PA) program, along with four Bethel employees, recently returned from a week-long medical mission trip in Belize. more

McKENZIE (March 7) — Twenty-five McKenzie High School students were allowed to tour the Cachengo facility at the former hospital building in McKenzie. The students were invited to the facility by Cachengo CEO, Ash Young. Members of the Young family and technicians of Cachengo explained the technology company’s mission of providing high-end data storage systems to meet global demands for Edge Computing, Machine Learning (ML), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) by replacing the over-use of single, large CPUs with several smaller ones, embedded in each drive to perform localized computing where the data actually sits. more

HUNTINGDON (February 28) — Members of the Carroll County Election Commission got their first look at all-new voting equipment that will first be used in the 2024 elections. more
CARROLL COUNTY (March 5) — Severe weather hammered the mid-south area over a three-day period last week starting on Wednesday. For Carroll County, the most intense action took place on Friday with severe storms in the morning and dangerously high winds throughout the day, knocking out power to roughly 6,456 Carroll County Electric Department (CCED) customers. more
