Bethel University along with the Carroll County Government and the Town of Huntingdon agreed to enter into an education partnership. In this agreement, Bethel University will extend a reduced tuition rate to both governments’ employees enrolling in Bethel’s on-line degree programs. This would include undergraduate degrees, graduate criminal justice tuition, and graduate business tuition. Bethel is also extending the benefit of a waived application fee to the employees applying to any of these programs. more

HUNTINGDON (September 9) — The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life fund-raising event was held Saturday after a three-year absence due to the COVID pandemic. The scaled-down event was a good start to reinvigorate the event that once raised significant funds for the eradication of cancer. more

McKENZIE (August 22) — The McKenzie Rotary Club welcomed its newest member Drew Beeler into the organization. As part of the club’s weekly programs, Beeler was invited to speak about his developing businesses, Hometown Hangout, McKenzie Nutrition and Rolling Snow. Towards the end of the meeting, Beeler was asked by Rotarians to join the club. Beeler accepted the invitation. more
McKENZIE (August 11) — Recently, the McKenzie Rotary Club hosted the senior football players from McKenzie High School. Coach Wade Comer spoke of the upcoming season and the challenges ahead. The senior members of the team introduced themselves and stated the positions they play on the team. more
HUNTINGDON (August 17) — The 2023 Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Adult Leadership Carroll County met for the first session August 17. Classmates participated in team building, learning about Carroll County’s history, demographics, child care, new government meeting laws, and toured Hydro-Gear. more
McKENZIE (August 25) — The McKenzie Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its annual golf tournament at Carroll Lake Friday morning. Despite a heat index of nearly 115 degrees, the Chamber hosted a full slate of teams. Winning teams sponsored by John Austin (First Place, 52), Joseph Butler (Second Place, 52) and Dynamic Physical Therapy (Third Pace, 56) were awarded trophies provided by Tri-County Publishing, Inc. more
McKENZIE (August 24) — The City of McKenzie’s Fire Department accepted the delivery of a new, 2023 Pierce Freightliner fire pumper on Thursday, August 24. more
McKenzie (August 26) — A Saturday afternoon thunderstorm with heavy rain and high winds shortened the annual Sweet Tea Festival in downtown McKenzie. The rains sent arts and crafts and food vendors scurrying for shelter and caused the cancellation of the music acts for Saturday evening. more
McKENZIE — Carroll Arts, Inc. is back to kick off McKenzie’s Sweet Tea & Southern Pickin’s Festival with a production including familiar faces and an unfamiliar story. Over the summer, local actors have taken the McKenzie High School Theatre stage to practice for the play, titled “Southern Fried Nuptials,” and they are excited to show off their hard work this weekend. more
