In 1999, the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce began sponsoring the Youth Leadership Carroll County (YLCC) program. Since that time, more than 570 students have graduated from YLCC. The classes are comprised of class members from each Carroll County high school. The program is made up of four sessions, two in the fall and two in the winter. more

McKENZIE (March 7) — Twenty-five McKenzie High School students were allowed to tour the Cachengo facility at the former hospital building in McKenzie. The students were invited to the facility by Cachengo CEO, Ash Young. Members of the Young family and technicians of Cachengo explained the technology company’s mission of providing high-end data storage systems to meet global demands for Edge Computing, Machine Learning (ML), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) by replacing the over-use of single, large CPUs with several smaller ones, embedded in each drive to perform localized computing where the data actually sits. more

CARROLL COUNTY (March 5) — Severe weather hammered the mid-south area over a three-day period last week starting on Wednesday. For Carroll County, the most intense action took place on Friday with severe storms in the morning and dangerously high winds throughout the day, knocking out power to roughly 6,456 Carroll County Electric Department (CCED) customers. more

Dr. Deal serves as the vice chancellor for university advancement and is responsible for managing UT Martin’s fundraising and alumni programs; coordinating development efforts with UT Foundation and UT System administration; representing UT Martin in the community and among alumni groups and potential university supporters; and serves on the UT Martin chancellor’s cabinet. more
HUNTINGDON (February 4) — What an evening to remember as Lewis Hankins portrayed Mark Twain in Hal Holbrook Theatre. The late Mr. Holbrook was well known for his time on the silver screen in big budget movies and also on theatre stages, including The Dixie, portraying Mark Twain. more

HUNTINGDON (February 3) — Huntingdon American Legion Post 47 is hosting a Four Chaplains Day celebration in memory of the four men that gave their lives on the troop ship USAT Dorchester in 1943. The memorial celebration is Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Carroll County Civic Center, 201 Mustang Drive in Huntingdon, Tenn. The public is invited to attend.
